Downland Bedding Supporting The Whitechapel Centre
15 Sep 2025
At Downland Bedding, we’re proud to play our part in supporting our local community. That’s why we’ve partnered with The Whitechapel Centre, Liverpool’s leading homeless and housing charity, to help provide vital comfort and care to some of the most vulnerable people in our city.
For over 50 years, The Whitechapel Centre has been at the heart of Liverpool, offering practical and emotional support to people who are homeless, socially excluded, or struggling to keep a roof over their heads. Their work is truly inspiring – from street outreach and emergency accommodation, to welfare advice, hot meals, showers, and long-term resettlement support, they ensure no one slips through the net.
The scale of their impact is remarkable. In the last year alone, the charity supported 4,800 people facing homelessness or housing poverty. More than 2,400 people were prevented from becoming homeless, and over 2,000 were helped into accommodation, ending their homelessness journey. They also distributed 5,587 emergency food parcels and 855 toiletry packs, while 213 volunteers gave their time to keep services running.
As a bedding manufacturer based just across the road from their donations hub, we felt this was the perfect partnership. We’ve committed to donating duvets and pillows – essentials that can make a huge difference to someone moving into supported accommodation or starting afresh after hardship. Alongside this, we’ve set up a donation bin at our office so our team can contribute toiletries and food items most in need.
Homelessness can affect anyone – through job loss, relationship breakdown, mental health challenges, or financial struggles. By supporting The Whitechapel Centre, we hope to help create not just a safe place to sleep, but the chance for people to rebuild their lives with dignity.
This is just the beginning of our journey with the charity, and we look forward to working more closely with their team. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our city has the chance to find and keep a home.
