Picking the Perfect Pillow
Picking the perfect pillow is as important as using the correct tog on your duvet. Unfortunately, most people don’t give much thought to their choice of pillow until it’s too late and they suffer from poor sleep or pain (usually neck or back pain). Picking the perfect pillow can make an untold difference to your health and well-being, as well as your sleep.
With that said, we’ve pieced together a guide to help you pick your perfect pillow!
Determine Your Sleeping Position
In order to pick the perfect pillow, you need to determine your posture. You should only place your head and neck on your pillow. Anything other than your head and neck will elevate your upper body much higher than your lower body.
If you sleep on your back, you need to support the natural curvature of your spine. We recommend selecting a medium pillow so that your head is supported but you also receive a gentle curve down your neck through to your back.
If you prefer to sleep on your front, we would recommend selecting a softer pillow. The softer pillow will keep your spine in line and prevent your neck resting at an angle.
Side sleepers should pick a firm pillow with a lot of filling. The density of the pillow will support your head, therefore keeping your spine aligned and reducing pressure on your shoulders.
Are You an Allergy Sufferer?
If you suffer from allergies, you might prefer to opt for a synthetic filled pillow. That said, it is possible for allergy sufferers to happily use natural fill pillows.
